" Developing the growth of young performers in an inclusive and encouraging environment. "

We offer a safe place for performers to immerse themselves in both new and previously explored dance genres with fully qualified teachers and creatives.

TPP encourages students to build bonds with like-minded performers and grow friendships to last a lifetime,

CHALLENGE, MOTIVATE, SUPPORT and above all FUN!

ABOUT

The Performance Programme runs innovative, interactive Intensives designed specifically for young performers during school holiday periods, looking to grow and enhance their abilities in the Arts, both mentally and physically. Students will experience our positive training environment and creative ethos, deepen their technical training, and feel confident exploring their creativity and artistic expression.

Principals, Abbey Maginnis and Sara Clayton, are passionate about inspiring young performers and are always looking for ways to nurture talent and creativity. They strive to enable students to reach their highest standards by supporting them on their performance journey in an inviting, yet challenging environment. We believe students learn best through positive teaching, encouragement, whilst working in a safe dance community with friends and teachers who are all committed to progression and finding that love of performing.

The Arts often serves as a lifeline to children’s busy and sometimes stressful lives, and therefore we intend to provide students with support, make their experience enjoyable, and ensure their time at The Performance Programme contributes to their social and mental wellbeing. We aim for students to leave our courses feeling uplifted, motivated and above all, valued.

OUR INTENSIVES

Our Intensives bring together the team’s considerable knowledge and experience to deliver dynamic, fun-filled, educational and inspiring courses for dancers from 8 to 18 years.

Students can attend anything from just one day to a whole week, with each day offering different experiences; from learning classical ballet repertoire, to workshopping routines from our favourite musicals, to having creative classes to choreograph and explore movement potential. At The Performance Programme, we want to ensure students develop a well-rounded and realistic understanding of everything the dance world could entail. Therefore our Intensives will always include a pilates, stretch or strength & conditioning class, in addition to reflective sessions for mindset and mental wellbeing, dancer's anatomy and knowledge on injury prevention, alongside fun workshops like hairstyling for dancers.

At The Performance Programme, we always want to have one finger on the pulse and ensure this by offering multiple opportunities throughout the year to learn from other industry professionals in masterclasses and workshops. Some previous TPP Guest teachers include: Amelia O'Hara (Scottish Ballet, Ballet Cymru, Ballet Ireland, teacher and panelist for The National Youth Ballet of Great Britain and the Elite Ballet Project), Nafisah Baba (BBC Young Dancer of the Year 2017, Beyonce, Ellie Goulding, Everybody's Talking About Jamie film adaptation, Netflix's Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Zoonation's Message in a Bottle), James Harris (assistant choreographer to Chet Walker for Jack Cole: A New Musical, choreographer for Young Frankenstein at ICTheatre, assistant choreographer to Stuart Winter at Bird College), and James Rosental (director and choreographer for Carmen at Staatsoper Hannover, director and choreographer for Luisa Miller at the English National Opera, regular teacher and choreographer at Performers College and ICTheatre).

Intensives may vary for students at different ages/abilities depending on grouping, but we will always endeavour to make every child’s experience as enjoyable, engaging and beneficial as possible. The courses for each age group will be tailored to reflect the training needs of dancers at different stages of their performance journeys.
