ABBEY MAGINNIS

Abbey discovered her love for dancing the moment she stepped into her first pair of ballet shoes at the age of 4, when she started regular lessons at The Dance Studio Herts in St Albans. She was inspired by her knowledgeable teachers and her passion grew throughout her younger years. She was able to trial new genres of dance, completing ISTD awarded exams and taking part in many exciting shows. As she grew up she realised she wanted to inspire young performers just as her teachers had inspired her.

At 16 years old, Abbey was accepted into Stage Right Performing Arts College to study for her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Practice. She gained a full understanding of the disciplines and backgrounds of the performing industry whilst refining her technique. She was privileged to learn from the highly qualified and experienced faculty members, including regular guest teachers from the West End shows and wider Dance Industry.

Following her time at Stage Right Performing Arts College, Abbey auditioned for many Vocational Colleges and chose to follow her ambition to be a Dance Teacher at The Centre PAC. This was an unmissable opportunity to learn from the best in the industry, for here she would experience professionally lead performance training from the highly qualified faculty.

While training , Abbey studied Imperial Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap Dance under the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing).  As well as improving her own personal technique and performance engagement, by observing the college’s teaching methods she was able to broaden her own knowledge as a teacher.

Completing three qualifications in Diploma in Dance Education as well as a Level 4 Diploma in Teaching Studies, Abbey left vocational school in 2019 as a fully qualified Teacher with invaluable experiences and knowledge which she was very excited to take forward onto the next stage of her journey as a Dance Teacher.

Abbey had the privilege to attend the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Graduation in February 2020, where she was able to celebrate the success of the three years of hard work and determination, which was a real honour.

Since graduating she is always looking to further her knowledge and skill set, by taking regular teaching courses with the ISTD and various other teaching programmes. These include Acrobatic Arts, Progressing Ballet Technique, ISTD Intermediate Foundation Contemporary course, to name a few.

Abbey currently teaches for The Dance Studio Herts (her childhood dance school) and Dance Dedication in Cambridge, where she teaches multiple dance styles. Her love for dancing and teaching continues to grow and she is always finding new ways to educate herself to improve her knowledge and to implement this into her work.

Abbey has a soft and calming manner, especially with the younger students, and likes to challenge and motivate the young adults with her bubbly personality and professionalism. Abbey is always looking for the best in her students, but most importantly so they leave feeling appreciated, nurtured and respected as young dancers.
